On this page I will answer some of the questions I get asked. It is by no means an exhaustive list but one I will be adding to over time. If you have a question you would like answered please contact me and I will add it to the page.
Q. Do you provide personal care?
I can assist with personal care, washing, dressing etc but I can not do full bed based care on my own. I can assist family members or employed carers if required.
Do you have a DBS check?
Yes I hold an enhanced DBS on the update service.
Do you offer regular care?
I do not provide the same service as a care agency. If you require regular care at the same time/s each day or several visits per day, you would need to use an agency who have multiple carers to meet your needs. I offer support for short term needs, perhaps a return from hospital, when family are away or need a break or support or if your regular care company are not able to provide a carer on occasions. If you are looking for regular care, I am happy to recommend Home Instead (Chichester and Bognor Regis) For contractual reasons if you have a contract with Home Instead, I am unable to offer services other than as an End of Life Doula in addition to your care package.
Do you have insurance?
Yes I have public liability insurance and business insurance on my car.
Do you work with people with dementia?
Yes as long as there is no history of violent behaviour, self harm or abuse and following a successful initial visit to meet the client.
What happens if you are unwell?
If I am unwell, I will wear appropriate PPE (gloves, facemask etc) or offer the option to cancel with no charge to the client. I always follow infection control guidelines at all times. If I feel there is any risk to the client, I will not attend and will not charge.
What do you do about holidays?
As I do not offer regular, timed care, I will not take bookings at times I am not available.
What if I need to cancel?
I understand that sometimes plans change. If I am given 24 hours notice, I will not charge. Less than 24 hours notice, I charge 50% of the agreed amount to cover loss of earnings. Repeated cancellations ( 2 consecutive visits) will result in payment in advance being required for future visits.
