Funeral Planning

Funeral planning is often left to the family to arrange but I can help you decide on and make arrangements for the care you would like after death.

It is a common misconception that a funeral director has to attend as soon as possible to remove a body once someone has died. The reality is that unless the death is unexpected, unnatural or suspicious, the body may be safely kept at home for some time after death in the right conditions. This allows for family members to spend time with their loved one and to say goodbye without pressure.

I can assist with care of the body at home following death, whether you would like a few hours or longer. This will ensure that the body is cared for, support for the family and assistance in making arrangements. Family can help wash and prepare the body and spend time together with their loved one before saying their final goodbye.

I work with a number of local funeral directors, celebrants, florists and suppliers and only recommend companies that share my approach and values.

There is no legal requirement to hold a funeral service and increasingly more people are opting for a direct cremation or burial with a celebration of life afterwards. There are so many options now for green burial and alternative funerals, I can help you decide what you would like for yourself or your loved ones and make the necessary arrangements.
